W is for Wirah Wannie Watari
Yesterday I went for my 1st official check up at my gynae after waiting for 1 month plus since the first visit on March. Before went to the clinic, I was feeling excited as I will have scanning session to measure the baby in order to get my EDD due to that I lost count on my last menses. So I was very ready to greet the lil one inside for the very first time.
Went to the clinic, first thing is to take my current weight. When I step on the weighning scale (manual type), and the nurse adjust the scale, my eyes almost popped, I couldnt believe how much is my current weight now. I dropped almost 7kg from my previous weight. I was like, is this real?? I know ever since my pregnancy, some people told me I lose weight, for those who doesnt know I'm expecting, they thought I was on a diet. But I really couldnt believe I dropped that much weight. Well, I should be happy, cause my previous weight is not my ideal weight based on my height and Im definetely feel like a elephant. LOL!
So anyhow, when it's my turn to meet my gynae, she measure my blood pressure, 100/70. Then asking how's my appetite etc. And she calculated, if my menses is end of January and not mistaken, I should be in my 13 weeks. Then we go to the next door for untrasound scanning. I asked my gynae if can save the ultrasound picture, she said can print, I grinned as I never had any of wawa's ultrasound picture when I was pregnant with him.
So I lie down, gynae put the gel on my tummy area, and when she put the start scanning, she told me there is the placenta forming and when she moved around to check the lil baby, surprisingly the scanning doesnt show the fetus's size that he/she suppose to be at 13 weeks. As in 13 weeks, I suppose to see tiny fingers and leg or other part of the body growing. But during the scanning, all I saw is something tiny. Exactly like the size of a kidney bean when showed on the screen. My heart dropped that moment. Gynae was also surprise, she keep moving the scanning tool around my tummy, and that's all we can see. The picture is something like below, (not mine, taken from google). It's small, and that size is like the fetus at 7 weeks.
Gynae told me there is cases where the egg did not feterlise etc, I heard of those before and I'm disappointed and I couldnt say anything that moment. I suppose to have some questions to ask my gynae, but I forgot everything. So gynae told me to come back later on 16th to redo the scanning as she said fetus grow fast and can be very different within 1 week.
So I hope, I pray, that the lil baby inside is safe and growing. And I hope it's only miscalculation on the menses and not an empty fetus Im carrying. :(
